Sara Mills, L.Ac., holds a Master of Science in East Asian Medicine with over 3,092 hours of training. Sara is licensed by the state of North Carolina. Sara is honored to have been voted as one of the top three acupuncturist in the Mountain Xpress' Best of WNC Awards in 2018.
After receiving her bachelors in Health & Wellness Promotion, Sara immersed herself in an extensive four year masters program at Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. While in Boulder, Sara studied sports medicine trigger point therapy with Whitfield Reeves, author of The Acupuncture Handbook of Sports Injuries and Pain; and went on to treat some of the nations best Division I collegiate athletes in the sports medicine training room at the University of Colorado. Sara was also an intern at Well Woman Acupuncture, one of Boulder's leading acupuncture clinics specializing in women's health. After completing her Masters in East Asian Medicine, Sara traveled to Harbin, China for advanced training at the Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine Hospital. During her studies in China, she had advanced training on the treatment of pain conditions, stroke rehabilitation, and gynecological disorders. After returning to the US, Sara settled in western North Carolina and began practicing Chinese medicine at The Acupuncture Center of Asheville. Sara has additional training in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. She has completed the Professional Care Training through the Arvigo Institute in San Ignacio, Belize. Sara incorporates Arvigo® Maya Abdominal Massage into her work to help support the vitality of the internal organs, thus influencing overall health and wellbeing. Sara is also the founder of Nourishing Roots Apothecary, a line of herbal products created with the power of Chinese herbs. Each product is thoughtfully formulated, slowly infused with high quality ingredients, and handcrafted in small batches. During her free time, Sara enjoys dancing, gardening, cooking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, hiking, and ultimately anything outdoors with her husband & two dogs! |
